8"Charcoal Essential Foam Mattress

I'm really impressed with this twin mattress! It's the perfect balance of soft and supportive - super comfortable to sleep on. It expanded quickly after unboxing and had no strong smell. Great quality for the price, and my child sleeps so much better now. Highly recommend!

I bought two for my kids full size bunks, feels soft and the memory foam gives a comfortable feel

I have had rather bad neck pain over the past 9 months or so, and suspect it was from my old 10" memory foam mattress that developed a slump where I lay. At first the mattress was fine, but as time went on it got softer and mushier and would not support me as well, causing my neck to be forced upward more and more. I resorted to putting board underneath to firm it up where the sag was, but that didn't hold up and had to be shifted continuously. I had it for 5 years, so I'm not sure that isn't just the life of the mattress - - it was a pillow-top style and very soft to start with, so I figured I'd try something not as thick since it was so high up in the air on my old antique bed anyway.

After a very long and exhausting search of makers and hundreds of reviews on several sites I decided on this mattress - - it seemed that most thought it was "about right", i.e., not too soft or too firm. I'm a side sleeper as well, and found a couple of folks actually mention that it was good for side sleepers. Another big reason I picked this mattress is that it is supposedly "hypoallergenic", w/ charcoal-infused foam as well as gel-infused foam that was supposed to be mold and mildew resistant. I figured for the price that I may as well try it, that it had to be better than the torture I'm experiencing now.

The mattress came in a bigger box, and it was a bit of a struggle figuring out how to remove the plastic without cutting the mattress itself, but not too bad. I did let it lay in the floor for a day or two, just to make sure it expanded all it could before trying it out. It finally reached a total thickness of not quite 8 inches, and from what I've seen virtually no foam mattress will expand to it's true "supposed" thickness right away. There was a stout "new car" smell for the first few hours, but it has since pretty much gone away.

Anyway, the first night it was - - well, let's just say "different" than the old softer mattress. Not really like sleeping on the floor firm, but not soft at all - - sort of firm to start with and after a few minutes you sink in just a bit and you can feel the support softening. Quite nice, and I have had no trouble adjusting to the difference in firmness. And, the best part, it doesn't make my arms go to sleep when I sleep on my side like an air mattress does. I've used it now for over a week and am happy and surprised to report that my neck issue is almost totally resolved! I'm not constantly turning and tossing on this mattress, either, and am sleeping much better overall. And to put the icing on the cake, my allergies have almost totally clear up as well. I suspect my old foam mattress had a bit of a musty "mildewy" thing going on internally, although you couldn't smell it or see it at all.

I'm very pleased with this mattress so far, and I think it's a good value. I am just hoping that it will last a few years and hold up without developing the dreaded "sink hole". Time will tell, but this mattress seems to be a good bet. Recommend it!!

This matress was perfect for my 6 year old, it's soft but sturdy. It doesn't feel like it will break, he jumps on it and it looks and feels durable.
